At long last, my father has broken down and ordered a new car. His previous ride has cost him nearly what he bought it for in maintenance in the last few years, and he wanted something more roadtrip worthy. I guess having an empty nest will instill such ideas in parents.

After whipping the golden chariot (2001 Mercury Sable) for many years, he has decided to become very liberal and perhaps take up a new sport. On order for him is a 2016 Subaru Outback Limited. I bought him a softball hat to go with it.

All jokes aside, he is very excited for the new ride. Couldn’t be swayed towards the bigger engine package, but this is miles ahead of any car he’s owned to this point. He even ordered it in a handsome color.

Congrats to him! I’m trying to get my mom to get a car that is NOT a 2014-2015 Honda CRV. All of my Subaru suggestions have been shot down :(

My dad was so very close to a CRV as well, but when he considered the Subaru’s hold their value like fuckin’ gold bars and aren’t substantially more expensive, he was won over. Plus, olive green.

Wilderness Green is the best green Subaru has produced in a while. I miss their darker greens of old.

My grandmother has a Sable of that generation in the same color with a column shifter. It’s an interesting automobile.

No column shifter, lousy console-shifter is all the chariot had.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter much, the 4 speed is so close to being as awful as the CVT.
